Ledger Live is the official application for managing your Ledger hardware wallet and cryptocurrency assets. Follow these steps to set up your Ledger device using Ledger Live and ensure your digital assets are securely stored.

Setting Up Your Ledger Device

1. Unbox Your Ledger Device:

Carefully unbox your Ledger hardware wallet. Inside, you should find the Ledger device, a USB cable, a recovery sheet, and instructions.

2. Connect Your Ledger Device:

Use the provided USB cable to connect your Ledger device to your computer.

3. Download Ledger Live:

Visit the official Ledger website and download the Ledger Live application for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).

4. Install Ledger Live:

Open the downloaded file and follow the installation instructions to install Ledger Live on your computer.

5. Open Ledger Live:

Once installed, open the Ledger Live application on your computer.

Initial Device Setup

1. Get Started:

In Ledger Live, select "Get Started" and then choose "Initialize a new Ledger device."

2. Choose Your Ledger Device:

Select the Ledger model you are using (Ledger Nano S, Ledger Nano X, etc.).

3. Set Up Your Device:

Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Ledger device. This involves choosing a PIN code on the device itself. Use the buttons on the Ledger device to navigate and confirm your selections.

4. Write Down Your Recovery Phrase:

After setting your PIN, your Ledger device will display a 24-word recovery phrase. Write down each word in the exact order on the provided recovery sheet. This recovery phrase is crucial for recovering your wallet if the device is lost or damaged. Keep it safe and never share it with anyone.

5. Confirm Your Recovery Phrase:

Ledger Live will prompt you to confirm your recovery phrase by selecting the correct words in order using your Ledger device. This ensures you have accurately recorded your recovery phrase.

Configuring Ledger Live

1. Access the Dashboard:

After confirming your recovery phrase, you'll be directed to the Ledger Live dashboard.

2. Install Apps:

In Ledger Live, go to the "Manager" section. Here, you can install apps for different cryptocurrencies on your Ledger device. For example, to manage Bitcoin, install the Bitcoin app.

3. Add Accounts:

Once the necessary apps are installed, you can add accounts for each cryptocurrency. Go to the "Accounts" section, click on "Add account," and follow the prompts to add your chosen cryptocurrency accounts.
